Our take

About Serian’s Kidimbwi

Serian’s Kidimbwi is a three-tent, exclusive-use camp in the Lamai Wedge, close to the Mara River in northern Serengeti. Its small scale makes it a useful option for a family or group of friends wanting their own camp rather than rooms within a larger property.

We would start with the people travelling together: how many bedrooms you need, how you like to spend a safari day and whether a private camp adds enough to the experience. Kidimbwi is worth comparing when having a place to yourselves matters more than a long list of facilities. Allowing time to settle into one base will usually make the northern Serengeti more rewarding than changing camps each night.

01

Accommodation

Rooms

Three handmade canvas tents stand on teak decks, with natural stone walls, wrought-iron beds, sisal rugs and Swahili furniture. The design combines tented safari character with more substantial materials underfoot. We confirm the bed configurations, bathroom arrangements and permitted occupancy for your party before booking; the three-tent count should not be read as a guaranteed capacity for every family layout.

02

Food & drink

Dining

Serian places shared meals and conversation at the centre of camp life. With an exclusive-use booking, we suggest planning meals around the group: a longer day out for those keen to explore, or time to come back and enjoy camp together. Tell us about dietary requirements, children’s meals and any special occasion while we build the itinerary, so the arrangements can be agreed before arrival.

03

What to do

Activities

The Mara River and wider Lamai Wedge provide the geographical focus for a stay. Serian’s guiding model gives each group its own safari vehicle, guide and spotter, allowing the day to develop around your interests. We recommend exploring the wider landscape rather than making every outing a wait at a crossing point. Walking and fly camping need a separate discussion about the location, dates and specialist guide availability.

Planning your stay

How Serian’s Kidimbwi fits your journey.

We suggest four nights for a northern Serengeti stay, giving the party time to enjoy both wildlife drives and the private camp. On a longer safari, combine it with Ngorongoro or another Serengeti habitat rather than adding a succession of similar northern camps. Zanzibar can follow if a beach extension suits the trip length. We settle the camp arrangements before choosing flights and transfers.

The right fit

Would Serian’s Kidimbwi suit you?

Who it suits

Families or friends who want a small camp reserved for their own party, with the flexibility to shape their time together. It is particularly worth considering when different people want different amounts of time out on safari.

Things to consider

This is an exclusive-use camp, so the booking basis and bedroom layout matter as much as the number of guests. We confirm family suitability, operating dates and access for each enquiry. River crossings are natural events and cannot be promised.
