Passports & visas
Your passport should meet the current validity and blank-page requirements for every country in your routing. Visa rules depend on nationality and can change; use the relevant government or embassy source and check again before travel.
Health & insurance
Comprehensive travel insurance is essential from the point of booking. Speak to a qualified travel-health professional about vaccinations, malaria prevention, altitude and any personal medical needs. Carry medication in original packaging with supporting documentation where appropriate.
Light-aircraft luggage
Safari aircraft normally use strict weight limits and require soft-sided bags. Limits vary by operator and route, so use the allowance in your final documents. Hard cases and wheeled frames may be refused even when within the weight limit.
Money & tipping
US dollars are widely useful for travel expenses, but notes should be in good condition and meet current date requirements. Cards are accepted at many lodges, though connections can fail. Tipping is discretionary; we provide current guidance with your final documents.
Clothing & laundry
Pack neutral, lightweight layers, a warm top for early drives, sun protection and comfortable closed shoes. Many safari camps offer laundry, although underwear may be excluded for cultural reasons and same-day service cannot always be guaranteed.
Electricity & connectivity
Power arrangements range from mains supply to solar systems and generator schedules. Tanzania commonly uses the British-style Type G plug. Wi-Fi and mobile coverage vary greatly; remote camps may limit connectivity to shared areas.
On safari
Listen to your guide, remain seated when asked and never approach wildlife without permission. Avoid loud voices at sightings, do not feed animals and keep your room zipped or closed as instructed.
Weather & disruption
Seasonal descriptions are based on historic patterns and weather is increasingly difficult to predict. Heavy rain, dust, wildlife movement and aircraft schedules can require changes; flexible planning and adequate connection time help protect the journey.
