Our take

About Serian’s Serengeti Mobile Kusini

Serian’s Serengeti Mobile Kusini is a seasonal canvas camp in acacia woodland beside the southern short-grass plains. A separate property from Nomad’s Kusini Serengeti, it is an option for travellers who want traditional tented accommodation and a safari focused on the southern ecosystem.

We would choose it for time on the plains, with several nights to explore rather than a quick overnight stop. The right southern camp depends on the month, the wildlife setting and your preferred balance of comfort and simplicity. A mobile camp’s appeal lies in its light footprint and atmosphere; choose it because that style suits you, as well as for its seasonal location.

01

Accommodation

Rooms

The published accommodation comprises four tents and two suites beneath tortilis trees. Wrought-iron beds and rugs furnish the canvas interiors, while en-suite bathrooms have flushing toilets and bucket showers. Generator-powered electricity is provided and there is no Wi-Fi. We check the suite layout and any family bedding before confirming a booking.

02

Food & drink

Dining

Hosted meals are served together in the mess tent, a social part of the Serian camp experience. It suits travellers who enjoy comparing the day’s sightings over dinner. We suggest discussing picnic arrangements for longer drives, and flagging dietary requirements in advance. The aim is to leave enough flexibility for wildlife viewing without making meals or return times an obstacle.

03

What to do

Activities

Each group has a dedicated safari vehicle, guide and spotter. Drives explore the southern plains, where the seasonal herds and the predators following them are a major interest. We would compare a longer Kusini stay with a combination including Serian South if walking is central to the trip; any specialist walking or fly-camping extension must be arranged separately around permissions, guides and dates.

Planning your stay

How Serian’s Serengeti Mobile Kusini fits your journey.

We suggest three or four nights, with Ngorongoro providing a contrasting stage on a northern circuit. If walking is a priority, it may make sense to devote more time to the south rather than flying to another region simply to add a camp. Decide the safari route before adding a Zanzibar beach stay, and give each move enough time to earn its place in the journey.

The right fit

Would Serian’s Serengeti Mobile Kusini suit you?

Who it suits

Couples, photographers and families who enjoy a small, sociable tented camp and would trade constant connectivity for a closer connection to the safari setting.

The operator’s quick facts list 15 December to 15 March, while its introductory text describes December to May. We confirm actual operating dates before booking. Migration and calving patterns vary with conditions, so the camp’s location cannot guarantee a particular wildlife event.
