Our take

About Serengeti Bushtops

Serengeti Bushtops is a luxury tented camp in the northern Serengeti, combining wildlife drives with sunset-facing decks, private hot tubs and butler service. Its fixed location makes it a comfortable northern safari base, with time at camp an appealing part of the stay.

The camp suits travellers who enjoy the canvas atmosphere but want generous outdoor living space and attentive service. A shared swimming pool and massage treatments provide a slower rhythm between drives. Its northern position is important when planning a migration safari: the wider Serengeti is a large ecosystem, and a stay here should be chosen for your dates rather than the camp name alone.

01

Accommodation

Rooms

There are 15 tented suites, with family arrangements created by connecting selected tents. Bedrooms open onto broad wooden decks with a private hot tub and sunken seating, while bathrooms include open-air showers. Fans, a minibar, Wi-Fi and round-the-clock power provide practical comforts. Butler service extends to drinks and private dining. Linked tents give families separate sleeping spaces; the connection and permitted occupancy should be matched to everyone travelling. The hot tubs are distinct from the camp’s shared swimming pool.

02

Food & drink

Dining

The open-sided restaurant serves à la carte meals overlooking the landscape, with a wine collection and flexible dining times that fit around safari outings. Meals can also be arranged on your tent’s deck or beside the pool. Vegetarian, vegan and other dietary requirements can be catered for with advance notice. Bush breakfasts and special outdoor dinners offer different settings, with the arrangement and any supplement confirmed in your itinerary.

What to do

Activities

Morning, afternoon and full-day drives explore the northern Serengeti in open vehicles, accompanied by guides and local wildlife spotters. Balloon safaris, bush meals, sundowners and guided walks can add variety, subject to advance arrangements and local conditions. Back at camp, the shared pool and in-tent or deck massages offer a gentler afternoon. Specialist vehicle experiences, including Bushtops’ six-wheel Beest, are optional arrangements. Wildlife sightings and river crossings remain unpredictable.

Planning your stay

How Serengeti Bushtops fits your journey.

Allow three or four nights for northern Serengeti drives and time to enjoy the camp. Pair it with Ngorongoro and Tarangire for a varied northern circuit, or add Zanzibar afterwards. Kogatende is the usual arrival airstrip; we organise the flight and camp transfer as part of the route.

The right fit

Would Serengeti Bushtops suit you?

Who it suits

Couples and families who want a northern Serengeti safari with substantial tented accommodation, private outdoor space and a strong emphasis on personal service.

Things to consider

This is a fixed northern camp, so it is not a southern calving-season base. Family accommodation uses specific linked tents, which need reserving together. We confirm vehicle arrangements, park fees and optional experiences within the actual package.

Useful to know

Serengeti Bushtops FAQs.

How many tents does Serengeti Bushtops have?

The current camp overview and fact summary list 15 tented suites. Selected tents can be linked for families; we confirm the actual connection and occupancy for your party.

Do the tents have private pools?

Each tent has a private hot tub on its deck. A hot tub is different from a swimming pool; there is a shared camp pool.

Is Serengeti Bushtops a mobile camp?

No. Serengeti Bushtops is the fixed northern camp. Roving Bushtops is the separate seasonal camp that changes location.

Can we stay here for the migration?

It is a northern Serengeti option when that location suits the season. We plan around the expected herds and allow several nights, without promising a river crossing.
