Lemala Mpingo Ridge sits above the Tarangire River valley, combining elevated views with access to Tarangire National Park. The escarpment position gives wide views over the valley and catches cooling breezes. The elevated main lodge includes a substantial lounge and bar, with dining available indoors and on the terrace. A swimming pool and spa provide alternatives to spending the whole day in a vehicle. The suite decks are part of the experience too, with sunken seating designed for relaxed afternoons. Tarangire’s river, woodland and open areas introduce a different landscape to a northern circuit, making this a safari stop in its own right rather than simply an overnight en route elsewhere.

The supplier room description lists 13 standard suites and one two-bedroom suite, providing 15 guest bedrooms. Standard suites have super-king or twin bedding, en-suite bathrooms and private decks with sunken outdoor seating. The distinctive outdoor bathtub makes the terrace part of the bathroom experience as well as a place to rest. Family accommodation has two bedrooms with their own bathrooms and a shared expansive deck, rather than relying on an extra bed in a standard room. Two or three nights allows Tarangire to be more than a transit stop. Mpingo Ridge can follow an arrival night near Arusha before continuing to Ngorongoro and the Serengeti. If a night drive appeals, reserve it early enough to keep a suitable evening free. We would choose the balance of road travel and flights around the whole route, rather than try to fit every northern destination into too few days.
