Our take

About Jabali Private House

Jabali Private House provides an exclusive home in Ruaha National Park, suited to a family or small group travelling together. This is a separate safari home within Jabali’s rocky setting, with Ruaha’s woodland, baobabs and wildlife beyond the deck. Its three-bedroom arrangement, private outdoor spaces and dedicated guiding distinguish it from booking several rooms in a shared lodge. The emphasis is on travelling as one party and enjoying a flexible household rhythm between outings.

Built among a rocky kopje, the house has its own pool, deck, lounge and dedicated team. Guests can also visit nearby Jabali Ridge’s bar, library and spa.

The house extends Jabali’s pale timber and natural textures into a self-contained setting. Open shutters and a lounge flowing onto the deck connect indoor and outdoor living. A dedicated team, chef, guide and vehicle support a flexible daily rhythm, while the main lodge remains available when you want a change of scene.

Accommodation

Rooms

Three en-suite bedrooms accommodate six guests: two master bedrooms with king beds and a third twin bedroom.

Two master bedrooms have king beds, and the third bedroom has twin beds. Each has its own bathroom with a large walk-in shower. This arrangement can work for parents and children or a small group, although we would consider who should occupy the twin room before selecting it for three couples. Bedrooms have mosquito nets and ceiling fans.

Food & drink

Dining

A private chef prepares meals around your preferences and daily plans, from safari picnics to dinners on the deck.

The chef plans food around your preferences, preparing fresh baking and meals in the house or on the deck. Picnic breakfasts allow the day to begin early without rushing back for a scheduled meal. Your party can dine together privately, an advantage when children’s meal times or a celebration require a different routine.

What to do

Activities

A private guide and vehicle make game drives flexible, with guided walking also available. The private pool offers time to relax between adventures.

Walking and night drives can complement private daytime drives, with conditions and age limits confirmed in advance. The main lodge’s spa, bar and library give companions other choices. The private plunge pool and outdoor seating make the house a rewarding place to spend an unscheduled afternoon.

Planning your stay

Build this into your Tanzania journey.

We would consider four nights for a family or friends’ group, allowing the private guiding to become a meaningful part of the trip. Before arrival, we would discuss whether everyone wants the same drive lengths, walking programme and start times. A single vehicle gives flexibility for the group but does not automatically solve competing schedules, so a second vehicle may be worth pricing when interests differ substantially.

The right fit

Would Jabali Private House suit you?

Who it suits

Our view: particularly suitable for a family of up to six, two couples with children or friends who prefer meals and downtime together. It also works for travellers who enjoy a private home but still want access to a lodge’s wider facilities.

Things to consider

The house is exclusive use, and its total cost should be assessed across your actual guest numbers. Jabali’s usual season is June to mid-March, with Msembe approximately fifty minutes away. The rocky location may involve uneven paths. We would confirm accessibility, children’s ages, any additional vehicle needs and the bedroom allocation before proceeding.
