The six open-fronted bandas are tucked into the forest at the edge of the beach, with views over Lake Tanganyika. Each is uniquely designed with rustic charm and elegant simplicity, featuring large beds, private bathrooms with hot showers, and upstairs decks for lounging or stargazing. The cooling breeze from the lake and the sounds of the forest create a peaceful and immersive atmosphere, far from the distractions of modern life.
Food & drink
Dining at Greystoke Mahale is a communal and sociable affair, with meals shared in the main mess area overlooking the lake or sometimes right on the sand. The food is fresh, creative and satisfying, with much of the produce sourced locally. Whether it’s a relaxed breakfast, a lakeside lunch or dinner by lantern light, the setting is always atmospheric, complemented by fine wine and warm, attentive service.
What to do
The highlight of any stay at Greystoke is tracking the wild chimpanzees of the Mahale Mountains, an unforgettable experience led by expert guides and trackers.
