Gibbs Farm is a very special place; we think it is the best coffee farm lodge in Tanzania. The rolling hills, fantastic views and rich soils have special charm, and their unique selection of farm activities will make your stay memorable. The sophisticated farmhouse, nestled in the heart of the countryside, serves as the focal point of the farm and exudes the captivating allure of East Africa, boasting lovely stone walls and rustic beamed ceilings. Within the living rooms, you'll discover oversized armchairs and exquisite antique coffee tables, while numerous inviting corners and recesses offer the perfect spots for book lovers to nestle in, especially when the crackling log fire adds to the cozy ambiance. The dining area is a split-level space adorned with vast wraparound windows, granting you sweeping, panoramic vistas of the lush, emerald hills stretching into the distance.

Meandering stone pathways weave their way through clusters of vibrant lilies and bougainvillea, guiding you to a total of 17 charming stone cottages and two rustic farmhouses. Each accommodation is thoughtfully adorned to mirror a distinct chapter of the plantation's storied past, while all offer a bright and breezy ambiance, featuring either two queen-size beds or a king-size option. You can look forward to cozy evenings by an open fire, as well as the delight of flower-filled balconies that afford sweeping vistas of the plantation's surroundings. The same panoramic views grace the generous stone bathtubs in the bathrooms, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploration, and you can also experience the pleasure of an outdoor shower. For those traveling with family, the farmhouses boast two bedrooms and a capacious lounge area, making them the ideal choice.

From exploring the extensive grounds to venturing into the coffee fields and cattle herd, participating in farm activities like bread making, vegetable harvesting, and coffee roasting. Immersive community and cultural encounters include meeting the resident artist, walking withe the Maasai or visiting the local villages and towns. And, of course, there are thrilling safari adventures, such as exploring the elephant caves deep in the Ngorongoro forest and enjoying game drives within the Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara, or even Tarangire National Park.

How Gibb’s Farm fits the journey.

The crater rewards an early start, but accommodation on the rim and in the nearby highlands offers different trade-offs in journey time, setting and price. A longer stay can add highland walks or time on a working farm.
