This Tanzania safari and Zanzibar itinerary keeps the journey focused: one arrival night in Arusha, four nights in the Serengeti and seven on Zanzibar. Fly into the Serengeti from Arusha, then cross to the coast for a full week by the Indian Ocean.

Four nights give the Serengeti time to reveal its scale, resident big cats and seasonal wildlife without moving camp every day. We choose the safari area for your month, then the Zanzibar hotel for its beach, atmosphere and swimming conditions.

01 · Day 1

Arrive in Arusha

One night to settle in after the international flight. We choose the hotel around your arrival time and the following day’s flight to the Serengeti.

02 · Days 2–5 · 4 nights

The Serengeti

Fly to a camp selected for your travel month and settle into the rhythm of early drives, quiet afternoons and time with an experienced guide. The Serengeti is a vast ecosystem: the southern plains, central valleys and northern river country offer different experiences.

If the Great Migration is a priority, camp position matters. Broadly, the south draws attention early in the year and the north during the river season. Herd locations and crossings are unpredictable; resident wildlife makes the stay rewarding in its own right.

03 · Days 6–12 · 7 nights

Zanzibar

Fly from the Serengeti to Zanzibar and transfer to the coast. Seven nights give you time to settle in, swim when conditions suit and decide how much exploring you want to do. On day 13, transfer to the airport for your onward journey.

We choose the coast as carefully as the safari camp. Tides, wind and reef position change the swimming experience, while the north and east offer different hotel styles. A small villa retreat, a sociable resort and a quiet beachfront hotel are distinct choices.

When to travel

Let the month shape the route.

January to March and June to October broadly combine rewarding safari conditions with a Zanzibar finish. The best Serengeti area changes through the year, while coastal wind, rainfall and tides need to be considered for the individual hotel.

April and May usually bring the long rains and some camp closures. November can offer greener scenery and quieter travel, with more variable weather. These are historical patterns, not guarantees.

Your proposal sets out accommodation, meals, activities, transfers, flights and park fees included in the price, alongside any exclusions. We can change the camp or beach hotel, adjust the balance of nights, or add another safari region if your time and budget allow.
