Four to seven safari nights followed by five to seven nights on the coast works well. Two safari areas are often enough, allowing longer stays and fewer travel days.

We consider flight arrival times, whether an overnight stop is sensible and how many changes of camp you will actually enjoy. Four to seven nights on safari can give time for two contrasting areas without making every other day a travel day. Five to seven nights on the coast then feels like a proper rest. Some couples prefer a longer safari and only a short beach stay; the right balance depends on your interests rather than a standard package.

Choosing the island
Zanzibar offers the widest choice, Pemba is quieter and strong for diving, while Fanjove is remote and especially natural after a southern Tanzania safari.
Zanzibar gives the widest choice of hotels and the simplest connections from many safari routes. Beach conditions vary by coast, so we discuss tides and swimming rather than assuming every white-sand photograph represents the same experience. Pemba suits a quieter stay with particular appeal for diving, while Fanjove feels remote and works naturally after the southern parks. Limited room numbers and extra connections mean the smaller islands need earlier planning. Choose the island for its character as well as its appearance.
When to travel
January to March and June to October broadly combine good safari and coast conditions. April and May are wetter, while November can offer value with short, localised showers.
The northern Serengeti has its main migration interest during the broad July to October period, while the southern plains can be especially rewarding early in the year. Both periods can pair with the coast, though wind and rain patterns differ by location. November can bring attractive rates and green landscapes, but not every beach or camp is at its best. April and May require particular care because some safari camps and island hotels close. We plan around the specific regions and properties, then build the honeymoon dates around what matters most.
Choosing the rooms
A beautiful photograph cannot show whether a suite is private, how much shade its terrace receives or whether a beach is swimmable at low tide. We look at the exact room category and whether a plunge pool, family-friendly setting or adults-only policy matters to you. Small details such as a late arrival meal or a gentle first morning often improve the journey more than a generic honeymoon inclusion.
